Good day all! Hope you are doing well on this dreary day. Hurricane Florence is upon us and she is affecting the weather in several states. Praying for safety for those who are in her direct line of fire.
Anyway, I always talk to you guys about self-love and the importance of having high self-esteem and how you can overcome anything that comes your way. Well today I wanted to talk to you about a different aspect of self-love…………..self-care. What, you might ask, is self-care and what does it have to do with self-love? Self-care is any activity you purposely perform in order to take care of yourself. This applies to your emotional, mental and physical health. Self-care is also very personal. What I consider
self-care, may not be the same as what someone else considers self-care. Self-care can be anything as simple as taking an hour to yourself to go get a manicure, to something more involved like going away to
a spa for a week to really recharge. There really is no magic formula to self-care. It’s all about what makes you feel good and rejuvenated. Practicing good self-care is important because it helps keep your moods level, and also has a positive impact not only on the way you feel, but also on the way we interact with others. Self-care is also important because it impacts the way you function in everyday life. Some
examples of self-care are:

 Eating a healthy diet. Although sometimes you may view eating healthy as boring or tasteless, (which it really does not have to be), it is definitely good, not only for your physical body, but for your overall well-being also.

 Spend time with the people you love. Being around the people you love, in most cases,
promotes feelings of happiness, which of course, is good for you.

 Spend at least 30 minutes each day JUST RELAXING. I know for some this may seem impossible,
but it’s important. Even if you can’t spend all 30 minutes at one time, take 15 minutes twice a day and just relax. Maybe you can spend it reading a good book or just enjoying a cup of tea. Whatever makes you feel good and relaxed, take the time and do it.

 Make sure you laugh every day. Laughter releases endorphins, your bodies natural “feel good” juice, which decreases stress. And hey, we could all benefit from less stress in our lives.

These are just a few things you can do to practice self-care. But, as I said earlier, self-care is about what makes YOU feel good, so you pick the manner in which you want to practice it.
So what does self-care have to do with self-love? Dictionary.com describes self-love as “regard for one’s own well-being and happiness”. This means that by administering self-care, you are giving yourself love. It is not selfish to administer self-care or self-love. We must love ourselves and hold ourselves in high regard. After all, as they say, if you don’t love yourself, who will? I know that a lot of people feel like they just don’t have the extra time to administer self-care. But the truth of the matter is, this is not something that should be optional. This is something that is vital in order to have a chance to recharge
and be your best self. So, whatever is going on in your life, make sure that you are making a conscious effort to take the time to love on yourself by administering self-care.

Love ya’s!
